Phoenix Hypnotherapy menopause and peri-menopause hypnotherapy Cheltenham

Peri-Menopause & Menopause

Menopause hypnotherapy Cheltenham and online UK

Peri-menopause and menopause can arrive quietly or hit like a wave.

Hot flushes, disrupted sleep, mood swings, anxiety, low libido, and a confidence that seems to have packed its bags without telling you, these are not things you simply have to put up with.

And you do not have to manage them alone.

At Phoenix Hypnotherapy, Lesley Ford offers a flexible, personalised programme combining clinical hypnotherapy and EFT tapping to help you navigate this transition with more ease, more calm, and more of yourself intact.

Sessions typically run over four to six weeks depending on what you need, at £115 per session, with MP3 audio recordings provided so you can continue the work between appointments.

We call this approach the Phoenix Menopause Toolkit, PMT for short. Because for once, PMT should work in your favour.

What does menopause hypnotherapy help with?

Hot flushes and night sweats, disrupted sleep and insomnia, anxiety and overwhelm, mood swings and emotional reactivity, low confidence and self-esteem, low libido and loss of identity.

Does hypnotherapy actually work for menopause symptoms?

The research is compelling. A 2024 peer-reviewed study found that clinical hypnosis outperformed cognitive behavioural therapy for reducing both the frequency and severity of hot flushes. It is also the only non-hormonal behavioural intervention shown to achieve significant reductions in physiologically recorded hot flushes. The National Council for Hypnotherapy , a UK professional body, recognises the growing evidence base for hypnotherapy as an effective approach for managing menopause symptoms. For a natural, drug-free option, the evidence is strong and continuing to grow.

What does the Phoenix Menopause Toolkit include?

Each programme is tailored to you, but typically includes clinical hypnotherapy sessions targeting your specific symptoms, EFT tapping to manage emotional symptoms and hot flush triggers, sleep support techniques for night sweats and disrupted rest, MP3 audio recordings to use between sessions at home, and trigger awareness and pattern recognition to give you back a sense of control.

Common questions about menopause hypnotherapy

Can hypnotherapy help with hot flushes?

Yes. Peer-reviewed research published in 2024 found clinical hypnosis to be more effective than CBT for reducing hot flush frequency and severity. It is the only non-hormonal behavioural intervention shown to reduce physiologically recorded hot flushes.

Is Hypnotherapy suitable if I cannot take HRT?

Yes. Hypnotherapy is a natural, drug-free approach and is suitable for women who cannot take hormone replacement therapy due to health reasons or personal preference. The National Council for Hypnotherapy recognises clinical hypnosis as an effective non-hormone option for menopause symptoms.

How many sessions will I need?

Most clients work over four to six sessions, though this depends on the range and severity of symptoms. Lesley will discuss what is right for you during your free initial consultation.

Are hypnotherapy sessions available online?

Yes. All sessions are available via Zoom for clients across the UK, as well as in person at The Isbourne Centre in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Questions from people new to hypnotherapy

Will I be in control during hypnotherapy?

Yes, completely. Hypnotherapy is not something that is done to you, it is a collaborative process. You remain aware throughout and cannot be made to say or do anything against your will. You are always in control.

What does hypnotherapy actually feel like?

Most people describe it as a deeply relaxed, focused state, a little like that pleasant feeling just before you fall asleep, where your body feels heavy and your mind feels calm. You are not unconscious and you are aware of what is happening around you. It' has been reffered to as a bit like daydreaming.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

Yes. Clinical hypnotherapy is a safe, gentle, and well-established therapeutic approach. Lesley is a qualified clinical hypnotherapist registered with professional bodies and working within a clear ethical framework.

What happens in the first session?

The first session begins with a thorough consultation where Lesley will ask about your symptoms, your history, and what you want to achieve. This helps her tailor the approach specifically to you. The hypnotherapy itself will then begin, and you will leave with an MP3 audio recording to use at home.

Can hypnotherapy work if I am sceptical?

Yes. Scepticism is completely normal and does not prevent hypnotherapy from working. All that is needed is a willingness to try and an open mind. Many of Lesley's most successful clients came to their first session with significant doubts.

What if I fall asleep during hypnotherapy?

People can think this happens occasionally and it is absolutely fine. The unconscious mind continues to receive the suggestions even if you drift off. You will not miss anything important and the session will still be beneficial.

Will I wake up after hypnotherapy?

Yes, always. You cannot remain in a hypnotic state indefinitely. If a session were left without a formal ending, you would simply drift up normally and become consciouly aware again in your own time. There is nothing to worry about.

Can I get stuck in hypnotherapy?

No. This is one of the most common concerns people have and the answer is an absolute no. Hypnosis is a natural state that your mind enters and exits freely. You cannot get stuck. At any point you can choose to open your eyes and bring yourself back to full awareness.
