Have you ever found yourself thinking:
“I know exactly what I should do… but I just can’t seem to do it.”
Whether it’s:
…it’s easy to believe the problem is willpower.
People often blame themselves, thinking:
But here’s the truth:
Change doesn’t happen through willpower alone.
It happens when your mind and body finally agree.
Sometimes you consciously want to change…
…but another part of you feels unsafe doing so.
For example:
It’s not weakness.
It’s your mind and body trying to protect you in the only way they know how.
Pushing yourself harder can sometimes make things worse.
Because every time you force yourself to change without addressing the part of you that’s scared or resistant, the tension grows.
You end up feeling like you’re fighting yourself.
Next time you feel stuck, try asking yourself this:
“What part of me feels worried about this change? And what is it trying to protect me from?”
You might be surprised at the answer.
Sometimes, simply recognising that another part of you is scared can reduce the inner battle.
It doesn’t mean you have to agree with that part — but understanding it helps you start working with yourself instead of against yourself.
Change is so much easier when every part of you feels safe enough to move forward.
Because when your mind and body finally agree,
change stops feeling like a fight… and starts feeling like relief.
